NEWS CENTER - In Switzerland, the documentary film "73 Farman (Genocide)" of journalist Nazım Daştan, who was killed in Turkey's drone attack, was screened.
Journalist Nazım Daştan, who was killed in a Turkish drone attack on 19 December 2024 while following the developments in North and East Syria with his colleague Cihan Bilgin, was commemorated in Bern, the capital of Switzerland. In the commemoration event organised by the Mesele Association, the documentary "73 Farman" shot by journalist Daştan was screened.
Özlem Yaşar and Sama Schwarz spoke on behalf of the association. Özlem Yaşar reminded the massacre of Êzidîs (Yazidi) in Shengal by DAESH and said that Daştan was targeted for revealing the truth. Sama Schwarz stated that journalists are targeted by states because they reveal the truth and that they will organise events in the coming days in solidarity with journalists whose lives are under threat.
DOCUMENTARY SCREENED
Afterwards, the documentary was screened. The audience experienced emotional moments during the documentary screening. Afterwards, Yazidi women activist Gülistan Sevgat read excerpts from the book Vierundsiebzig (74) by German writer-journalist Ronya Othmann, who travelled to Sinjar, observed and wrote about the genocide.
The commemoration ended with the distribution of plant seeds sent from Shengal.
