Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Youth Assembly started a march from Amed (Diyarbakır) to Amara neighbourhood of Riha's (Urfa) Xelfetî (Halfeti) district on the 76th birthday of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The young people who set out from Amed reached Sewreg/Grê Sor (Siverek) district. The march carried out by the youth with the slogan "We are marching to freedom with a democratic society" will end in Amara on 4 April.

 

Çekdar Polat, one of the young people participating in the march from Wan (Van), stated that they will march until the house of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Polat said, "Our people should march to Amara from everywhere."

 

Stating that the youth are behind Abdullah Öcalan with their hearts, Polat said, "Even if we give our lives, we will not turn back from this path. This is a blessed struggle. Whatever happens, the end will be marvellous."

 

CALL FOR FREEDOM FOR ÖCALAN 

 

Cengiz Avar, a member of the DEM Party Youth Assembly, celebrated the 76th birthday of the Kurdish people and said, "We will march from here to Amara. Everyone should know that there will be no peace unless Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and political prisoners are released."

 

University student Havin Baran underlined that this march is very important for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Havin Baran emphasised that young people should stand behind Abdullah Öcalan and it is important for them to increase his power and said, "Leader Apo has opened a new path for us. That path is a very important and powerful path. We should walk together on the path opened by Leader Apo and enlarge his power."
